How to make a Strawberry Gin and Tonic

strawberry gin and tonic

This Strawberry Gin and Tonic can be made easily at home using ingredients from your food cupboard. Let’s face it, we all need a little pick me up during these troubled times and this one couldn’t be any easier. Sweet in taste, this one is sure to please everyone and it would make a fantastic summer cocktail.

While I’m not a gin lover (tried it once and was very ill the next day) my wife is most definitely a gin girl and we have so many flavored gins in our alcohol stash, even more than my whiskeys. Gin is so versatile and will take a lot of different flavors so go and experiment, the wife definitely liked this one.

How to make this Strawberry Gin and Tonic

Now of course, depending on where you are, you could just go and buy a Strawberry flavored Gin, but this one makes use of cheaper gins, thus saving you some money.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Strawberry Jam or Jelly (yes you read that right)
  • Juice from half a lemon
  • 3 tsp Sugar Syrup (if you don’t have any check out my recipe here)
  • 25 ml Gin (don’t use an expensive one)
  • Tonic Water
  • Strawberry and a sprig of mint (if you have it) to garnish

So let’s make it

Take a cocktail shaker and fill about 1/3rd of it with ice. Add all the ingredients with the exception of the Tonic Water and garnishes to the shaker. Put the lid on (you don’t want to waste it 🙂 ) Shake well for at least 30 seconds and until the jam has blended with the other ingredients. Pour into a glass over ice, add the strawberry and mint garnish, sit back and enjoy!
