There are literally three ingredients in these and they are really super quick to make. I liked these a lot as there really is no pre-prep to do and are made in around 20-25 mins!
One of my favorites to put in many things, Jalapenos are normally a staple in our house and as a pepper goes, they are quite versatile. Try adding them in a sandwich to spice it up a bit.
These did come out a little “mild” for my liking so I think next time I will add some of the Jalapeno seeds to the sausage mix to kick it up a gear or two. The baking certainly mellows the spice of the Jalapeno and they turn out quite sweet and delicious.
Ok, so here is what you need to make these.
Ingredients for Jalapeno Stuffed with Spicy Sausage
- Jimmy Deans Hot Sausage meat (or equivalent)
- 8 – 10 Jalapeno peppers
- Mexican Blend shredded Cheese
How to make the Jalapeno Stuffed with Spicy Sausage appetizer.
Firstly pre-heat your oven to around 375 degrees. While warming up, cut the Jalapeno’s in half longways so they look a bit like a boat. Next scoop out the seeds – Don’t be tempted to rub your eyes at this point! I used a teaspoon to scrape the seeds from the peppers. Lay the peppers on a baking sheet and fill with the hot sausage. Bake in the oven for approx. 20 mins until the sausage is cooked. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with the cheese and allow the cheese to melt. Serve hot or cold – both taste as good as each other.
Try adding a Ranch or Siracha dip to allow your guests to “dip” this delightful spicy appetizer. These are really versatile, why not change the cheese for blue cheese to add a different dimension.
