Steak and Brie Crostini’s

Steak and Brie CrostiniThese Steak and Brie Crostini ‘s with caramelized onions are out of this world! Some of our good friends made these for New Year’s Eve, and are simply amazing! We decided between us all to just make appetizers for our NYE party. You can check out my contribution for Loaded Potato Wedges here

We got together with some great friends for NYE including both sets of kiddo’s – who all get on so well with each other. Games such as “poop the potato” were such a hit with kids and made for a really fun night filled with fun, laughter and lots of food and of course it goes without saying booze.

For those who don’t know what “poop the potato” is, check this out

The Steak and Brie Crostini’s are amazing and literally melt in your mouth. If you could taste heaven, then this would be it! Simple to make too.

Ingredients to make these Steak and Brie Crostini’s

  • 1 French Stick
  • 1 large good quality steak
  • 2 large onions (caramelized)
  • 1 Good quality Brie (such as Trader Joes Tripple Cream Brie)
  • Butter

Directions

Firstly caramelize the onions. Once complete, remove from the pan and keep for later. In the pan, which should now be well seasoned with the onions, brown and seal your steak on all sides, it’s important as this seals in all the flavor. Cook the steak to either a medium or rare consistency depending on how you like it, but you are going to place it in the oven at a later stage so cook to rarer than you would normally have it. Once done let it rest for 10 minutes before thinly slicing. In the meantime, while the steak is resting, slice the Brie and the bread. Butter the bread generously and then add a slice of Brie. Follow this with a slice of the steak and top off with some of the Caramelized Onions. Place them on a baking tray and bake in the oven (375F) until the Brie is melting, around 10 minutes should do it.

Serve warm with your favorite alcoholic beverage and you won’t be disappointed – trust me.
